The RIGOL RP1010H is a 1000:1 passive high-voltage probe for displaying ground-referenced high-voltage waveforms on a digital oscilloscope. It supports signals up to 10kVDC and provides DC–40MHz bandwidth for high-voltage power supplies, industrial electronics, display systems and laboratory testing.
Its 100MΩ input resistance and 3pF input capacitance reduce loading on the circuit under test. Passive operation eliminates the need for batteries or an external probe power supply.
Key Features
-
1000:1 attenuation: Reduces high-voltage signals to an amplitude suitable for oscilloscope display.
-
Up to 10kVDC: Supports short-duration measurement of high-voltage grounded circuits.
-
DC–40MHz bandwidth: Captures switching behavior, pulse shapes and high-frequency waveform components.
-
100MΩ input resistance: Minimizes current drawn from high-impedance circuits.
-
3pF input capacitance: Limits capacitive loading during dynamic measurements.
-
5pF–50pF compensation range: Allows the probe response to be matched to a broad range of oscilloscope inputs.
-
2m cable: Provides additional working distance between the oscilloscope and high-voltage source.
-
Passive operation: Requires no battery, charging connection or dedicated probe power supply.
Voltage Measurement Limits
-
DC input: 0–10kVDC
-
AC pulse input: up to 20kVpp
-
AC sine-wave input: up to 7kVrms
Measurements between 8kV and 10kVDC, between 5kV and 7kVrms, or between 15kV and 20kVpp must be limited to 60seconds. The probe requires a cooling interval of at least 5minutes between measurements within these upper voltage ranges.

Probe Compensation
The RP1010H can be compensated for oscilloscope input capacitances from 5pF to 50pF. Correct compensation preserves square-wave shape and improves amplitude and timing accuracy across the measurement bandwidth.
Compatibility and Probe Selection
The RP1010H is compatible with RIGOL digital oscilloscopes and other suitable grounded oscilloscopes with a BNC input and input capacitance within the probe’s compensation range. The oscilloscope channel is configured for the probe’s 1000:1 attenuation so that the displayed voltage corresponds to the actual measured value.
The RP1010H is a single-ended, ground-referenced probe. It is suitable only when the return lead can be connected to a reliable earth-referenced ground. Measurements across floating switching nodes, bridge circuits or two non-grounded points require a high-voltage differential or isolated probe.
Safety-Oriented Operation
- Connect the probe ground lead before the tip contacts the high-voltage source.
- Remove the probe tip from the voltage source before disconnecting the ground lead.
- Keep the probe body, leads and working environment clean and dry.
- Inspect the probe for cracks, worn insulation or damaged leads before use.
- Use the probe only when the circuit chassis or return connection is reliably grounded.
- Operation is intended for personnel trained in high-voltage measurement safety.
