The RIGOL RPL1116 is a 16-channel active logic probe that connects digital signals from a device under test to compatible RIGOL DS1000Z Plus and MSO1000Z oscilloscopes. It adds digital-channel acquisition for mixed-signal debugging, logic timing analysis and correlation between analog and digital circuit behavior.
Sixteen channels labeled D0–D15 allow engineers to examine data lines, address buses, control signals and other related digital events on the same oscilloscope used for analog waveform measurements.
Key Features
-
16 digital input channels: Captures multiple related logic signals for bus, timing and state analysis.
-
Two channel groups: Channels are organized as D0–D7 and D8–D15 for structured multi-channel measurements.
-
Independent group thresholds: Each eight-channel group can use a separate threshold level for systems containing different logic-voltage families.
-
±15V threshold range: Supports adjustment for a broad range of digital signal levels.
-
500mV minimum voltage swing: Detects logic transitions with relatively small signal amplitudes.
-
10ns minimum detectable pulse: Captures short digital events and narrow control pulses.
-
High input impedance: The 100kΩ input resistance reduces loading on digital test points.
-
Flexible connections: Twenty leads and twenty grabbers support signal and reference-ground connections across development boards and assembled circuits.
-
Probe auto-calibration: Zero calibration is available through the oscilloscope’s logic-analyzer menu.
Oscilloscope Compatibility
The RPL1116 is designed for the digital input interface used by the RIGOL MSO1000Z and compatible DS1000Z Plus families. Supported DS1000Z Plus models include:
- RIGOL DS1074Z Plus
- RIGOL DS1104Z Plus
- RIGOL DS1074Z-S Plus
- RIGOL DS1104Z-S Plus
Adding the RPL1116 to a compatible DS1000Z Plus or DS1000Z-S Plus oscilloscope enables its 16 digital input channels and mixed-signal measurement workflow. The probe is not intended as a universal logic accessory for RIGOL oscilloscopes without the corresponding digital input interface.
Mixed-Signal Debugging
Digital waveforms from the RPL1116 can be displayed alongside the oscilloscope’s analog channels. This enables direct examination of relationships such as a control signal changing before a power rail responds, a clock transition preceding analog noise or a logic event triggering an unexpected circuit condition.
Channel labels and adjustable waveform sizes help organize complex acquisitions when multiple digital lines are active.
Typical Applications

Connection Quality
Individual signal leads can connect directly to test points or be combined with the supplied grabbers. Channel markings and color identification simplify connection tracing when several digital lines are measured simultaneously.
For measurements where crosstalk or ground bounce is a concern, RIGOL recommends pairing each signal lead with a nearby ground lead and twisting the signal and ground conductors together.
