The OWON VDS1022 and VDS1022I are compact 2-channel USB oscilloscopes that use a computer for waveform display, measurement and analysis. With 25MHz bandwidth and up to 100MSa/s real-time sampling, they provide a space-efficient platform for electronics development, repair, laboratory exercises and technical education.
The PC software combines waveform viewing with FFT spectrum analysis and X-Y display modes. Users can view the waveform together with FFT or X-Y analysis on the same screen, making it easier to compare time-domain and frequency-domain behavior without switching between separate instrument displays.
Key Features
-
2-channel oscilloscope: Compare two signals during circuit debugging, timing analysis and electronics troubleshooting.
-
25MHz bandwidth: Measure common analog, digital, audio, control and embedded-system signals.
-
Up to 100MSa/s sampling: Capture waveform detail across the instrument's supported signal range.
-
5K record length: Store acquired waveform points for display, measurement and software analysis.
-
FFT spectrum analysis: Examine frequency components, noise and harmonic content from acquired signals.
-
X-Y display mode: Compare the relationship between two input signals for phase and transfer-response observations.
-
Dual-view software interface: Display the waveform together with FFT or X-Y analysis on the same computer screen.
-
Multiple trigger types: Use Edge, Pulse, Video, Slope and Alternate triggering to stabilize different signal conditions.
-
Auto, Normal and Single triggering: Select continuous acquisition or capture a specific event.
-
Sample, Peak Detect and Average acquisition: Adapt acquisition to routine waveform viewing, narrow-event detection or noise reduction.
-
Waveform mathematics: Apply addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, inversion and FFT functions.
-
USB-powered operation: Communicate with and power the oscilloscope from a compatible computer USB connection.
-
SCPI support: Integrate the oscilloscope into custom software and automated measurement workflows.
-
Ultra-thin enclosure: Move the oscilloscope between classrooms, repair benches and laboratory workstations more easily than a conventional benchtop instrument.
Model Differences & Selection
-
VDS1022: Uses a standard non-isolated USB connection and has a published maximum input limit of 40V peak-to-peak. Choose it for general low-voltage electronics, education and bench troubleshooting where USB and signal isolation are not required.
-
VDS1022I: Adds isolated USB communication and channel isolation to reduce ground-loop interference and separate the computer from the measured analog signals. It also has a published maximum input limit of 400V peak-to-peak. Choose this version when isolation is important for the measurement setup or connected PC.
Both models provide the same 25MHz bandwidth, two analog channels, 100MSa/s maximum sampling rate, 5K record length, trigger functions and PC analysis software. The purchasing decision therefore depends primarily on whether the measurement environment requires the isolation provided by the VDS1022I.
Applications
- Electronic circuit development and debugging
- Embedded-system and control-signal inspection
- Audio and low-frequency signal analysis
- Electronics repair and maintenance
- Technical education and laboratory exercises
- FFT-based harmonic and noise investigation
- Automated measurements through SCPI
Why Choose the OWON VDS1022 Series?
The VDS1022 Series provides essential oscilloscope and analysis functions without occupying the space required by a benchtop display instrument. Its PC interface is useful for large waveform views, combined FFT analysis, saved test data and classroom demonstrations, while the VDS1022I adds isolation for more demanding measurement arrangements.
